Most people learn a lot over the years. The person we are now is smarter and better in every way than the person we were last year whether or not we prefer it. However, when I look back on my school years, the 2020 school year will definitely stand out among the rest. Not only was it my first and hopefully last experience of a pandemic, social protests and, other disastrous events, but I also accomplished a lot from this year. This year was my junior year of high school and being just a year away from college, I got myself involved in a multitude of different clubs. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, made new friends, had new experiences, and overall, my grades improved from sophomore year. Other accomplishments would include finishing my coding project, earning my first paycheck and other endeavors I was involved in. Unlike in previous years, I got a lot more involved this year. This time around, I tried a lot more than in previous years and enjoyed the overall class more. I made friendships with seniors and was also a part of a great team that almost made it to the finals. This ongoing pandemic has disrupted various things in my life. While it is wreaking havoc on the whole world right now, on an individual scale, it ruined my sleep schedule, spoiled my health, disturbed my routine, and more. On top of all this, hearing about everyone else’s experience with the pandemic and losing close family members due to this, has also been deeply saddening. However, like most things, even this pandemic has a silver lining. It taught me a lot. I learned to do numerous things on my own, spent hours learning a concept without a teacher to guide, trying to make a routine amid this pandemic, and even help in any way I can to the people who have suffered the most. In a way, this pandemic taught me self reliance and how to still remain productive when there are a million things available at your disposal to procrastinate with. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the pandemic as of now – it has its negatives but also provided positives I never would have experienced otherwise. Here is a quote that has helped me a lot in these recent times:
